Our 2026 Goal: Helping Families with Major Life Changes

I've been selling homes for over 20 years, and I am never surprised by how much we accumulate. Some of it we haven't laid eyes on in years — it's in a drawer, in the back of a closet, sometimes under the bed.

Recently I went back home after losing my oldest sister. While I was there I helped her children go through what she left behind — clothes she hadn't worn in years, shoes still in their boxes that she could no longer wear, knick-knacks, and photos she couldn't stand to part with. We spent hours going through everything, reminiscing about old times, remembering the last time we'd seen her in a particular outfit, looking through photos none of us had ever seen before. The whole time, I kept thinking: why didn't she just give some of this away?

At EMREG, we work with trusted vendors who can help you sort through what you've built up over the years — privately, at your own pace, and without judgment. Please call/text 510.386.0547 or email eloise@homesbyeloise.com today for a private consultation.

Takeaway: August's numbers show the Bay Area market cooling slightly — but still firmly in seller's territory. Alameda County single-family homes sold in 27 days at a median of $1.2M, with buyers paying just over list at 101.8%. Contra Costa followed a similar pattern — homes closed at $875K in 28 days, essentially at asking price. San Francisco stayed the most competitive of the three, with homes selling in 22 days at 124% of asking and a median of $2M.

Healthy Living Corner

A note on this month's Healthy Living Corner:

I'd been planning to continue with Outlive this month, but I decided to take a detour. So many of the seniors I work with are dealing with real challenges around food — whether it's energy, mobility, or just the daily reality of cooking for one. When I came across this, I wanted to pass it along.

Medically Tailored Meals: A Resource Worth Knowing About

Medically tailored meals and groceries are dietitian-planned food programs for people managing chronic illness or recovering from a hospital stay. They're free for those who qualify, and research shows they can improve health outcomes and reduce medical costs.

Programs come in different forms. Medically tailored meals provide fully prepared, ready-to-eat food for people who can't shop or cook for themselves — customized for conditions like heart failure or diabetes, with cultural and religious options available. Medically tailored groceries are a better fit for people who can still cook but need help choosing the right ingredients, and come with recipe guidance. Produce prescriptions offer vouchers for fruits and vegetables through a doctor's referral.

To find these programs: ask your doctor or care coordinator about a referral, check your health insurance (some Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans cover them), or look into local community organizations — eligibility rules vary by state.
